Absolute and Relative URL's

And absolute and relative URL addresses are defined exactly the same as mailing addresses.

For example. Let's say George lives at 235 S. Maple Ave. and his house next to yours. You might say that George lives "nextdoor."

Nextdoor is a relative address.

235 S. Maple Ave. is an absolute address.

Nextdoor is a relative address because it describes where George lives in relation to where you live. George doesn't live nextdoor to everybody, he lives nextdoor to you, therefore the relative address is only truth when it is applied to you.

235 S. Maple Ave. is an absolute address because it is absolutely true, regardless of where you live. Whether you live nextdoor, on a different street, another town, or across the globe. George's address is will still absolutely remain 235 S. Maple Ave.

If you are at home, and were asked where does George live, you would probably answer "Nextdoor", because it's relative to where you are at that moment. But if you were across town or further and asked the same question, you would probably answer "235 S. Maple Ave."
