People should be able to tell what is and what isn't a link without being told "where" to click!

Otherwise you'll confuse your visitors about what's a clickable link, and what isn't!

Always Give Your Website a Meaningful Title

The website's title is something of great importance that many webmasters seem to "forget."

When visiting a website, the website's title is displayed in the browser's title bar. But what most people don't realize about website's titles:

  • If a user "minimizes" their browser window with your website loaded, the website title is what they will see on their taskbar. Make your title meaningful so when the user looks at their taskbar, they'll know that it's YOUR website on their taskbar!

  • If a user "bookmarks" your website, the website title is what appears in their "Favorites." Make your title meaningful so when they see your link in their Favorites, they'll know it's YOUR website's link!

  • Your website's title carries a lot of weight for many search engine rankings. Not to mention some search engines will use your title-text as the clickable link to your website when displaying search results. Make your title meaningful to entice users to click on it!

A Good website title would be something like:
Widgets-R-Us.com - Ultimate Online Widget Superstore!

A Bad website title would be something like:
homepage

If you saw both the above titles in your "Favorites" or on your taskbar, you'd know exactly what the first one is, but you'd be guessing about the second one.
