Beware of Horizontal Scrollbars!

Horizontal Scrollbars are among the ulimate sins of a website. Vertical scrolling is widely accepted across the internet but NOBODY likes scrolling horizontally to view a webpage! If your website is not sized & proportioned to fit in the 600x800 pixel screen, then you are doomed to having horizontal scrollbars!

Pixel-resolution: The most commonly used pixel-resolution by internet users today is 800x600 (Windows XP/Vista default). 640x480 is the default for Windows 95/98.

Therefore it is most important that your website is measured & sized accomodate a 600x800 pixel screen. If somebody is viewing your website on a 600x800 pixel screen and your website is wider than 800 pixels, then your website will have the dreaded HORIZONTAL SCOLLBAR!
